Loki Laufeyson - The Story of a God by Renate Steinbach tells the story of Loki in his own words.
After Ragnarök…Thor being poisened by the snake he killed, Odin eaten by the Wolf and Loki and Heimdall had killed each other…

The story telling thereof, ends with the words:

"But now if you want to ask further, I do not know, how this came to thee, because I never heard someone tell more of the destinies of the world again. Therefore be content with this."

I thought alright this must be the end…but then I turned the last page

Midgard

I sit, as so often, on Asgards wall and look down onto Idafeld, where the friends are playing. Balder laugh’s with Hödur and explains to him, what kind of flower scents he can smell. Odin roams with Hönir in the
next environment. The Children practise with blunt weapons. Thor sits beside me. We drink golden Met and we delight in our friendship.

You ask yourself, how that can be? Well, then you didn´t listen to me. I am Loki Laufeyson and I am a God. You can not bind a god. And could it, the shackle would be in vain if a friend somewhere in the worlds that God calls for help, or even invites you to the Festival of Sacrifice. When I get invited, I am happy to join. No chain can keep a God then.
If we are friends, I´ll hear you.
I am a God.
I live now. Eternally. There is no other time for me. There is no past nor future. There is only now, here and today. There, where I am, is now.

And now I’m sitting with my friend on the wall and take pleasure in the moment.
"No Gigants to slay today?", I ask Thor.
He laughs.
"Midgard is safe for now. The Jotuns are strangely peaceful today."
"There is someone, who called me", I tell him,"No big thing. The Humans think, I am good at finding solutions, where they can´t see them. And this human, well, he likes me."
"So are you going on a journey?"
"You don´t abandon friends."
"I know."
"I can show this human a few solution paths."
"But?"
"Well, it would be good for him, if he could find aside from guile a bit of strengh also, to fight against his inner Jotuns and also to declare before his human foes."

"Hey", laughs Thor, "is that an invitation? I am very pleased. I am honoured to be your companion. Just like you had been mine and will always be. And about your human friend, we can sure help him togther."

It´s like that with friends. The friend of your friend will always be your friend also. And if you are a God, just like Thor and I, it´s only natural, to be with all friends alltogether in Now, no matter where they are.

We don´t have to be friends for you to call him or me, or someone of the other Gods, for help. But if we are, I´ll bring you a gift, that has nothing to do with trickery or help or strengh. I´ll give you a laugh, that will touch you so deeply, you could never have imagined. Thor said to me once, I had brought the Laughter to Asgard. And I can also bring it to Midgard.

As for me: I offer you a laugh and a inner joyfullness, that will show you, how beautiful Midgard is, and how marvelous all forms and colors of Life in all Worlds. When you want to play around, well, I like to play. Also with you, if you like.
